The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is seeking Patrol Deputies to serve and protect our communities through a professional, community-focused approach to law enforcement. This is a dynamic role for individuals who are reliable, level-headed, and ready to take on meaningful responsibility.
What You’ll Earn
Starting pay: $32.15/hour+ (based on experience)
Full-time (40 hours) + full benefits
Shift differentials & stipends available
Additional Pay Incentives:
Military Service Stipend: +$0.25/hour (4+ years active duty, honorable discharge)
Certified officers (BLETP/academy):
$6,000 sign-on bonus
Up to 15 years lateral credit (pay + time off)
What You’ll Do
Patrol assigned areas and respond to calls for service
Enforce federal, state, and local laws
Conduct traffic stops, investigations, and arrests
Respond to disturbances and emergency situations
Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects
Gather evidence and complete detailed reports
Build relationships with community members through proactive policing

What You Need
Age 21 (or 20 with 60 college credits)
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Maine driver’s license
Must reside in Maine within 15 miles of Cumberland County
Ability to pass a background investigation
Authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available)
