Response Coordinator
JOB PURPOSE: Plan, organize and maintain County-wide disaster response efforts. Please note, applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. This position is 40 hours per week, with a full benefits package. Pay is commensurate with experience, with a starting wage of $23.35/hr.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration or related field;
- Five years of local government experience, emergency response and disaster planning experience;
- Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job will be considered;
- A valid driver’s license.
- Research, draft, implement, and maintain a County Emergency Operations Plan.
- Assess, maintain and develop a cache of physical assets used in disasters (cots, radios, generators, etc).
- Coordinate multiple specialized volunteer response teams; including but not limited to; recruitment, training, time tracking, record and budget management, and strategic coordination.
- Coordinate emergency response activities, training programs, and exercises to include seminars, workshops, drills, tabletop, functional, and/or full-scale exercises for EMA staff and volunteer teams.
- Supports all aspects of disaster response including, but not limited to: plan development, asset deployment, EOC operations, mission support, public notifications, etc.
- Conducts surveys and research to monitor the effectiveness of response programs/assets as well as the growth or sustainment of capabilities. Produces analytical reports to measure the impact of programs.
- Demonstrates the strong written communication skills required to develop After-Action Reports for review by senior officials and whole community partners.
- Assists with coordination and exercising of comprehensive emergency management plans and operations for Cumberland County to prepare for and respond to, and recover from the effects of any and all hazards.
- Demonstrates superior project management skills. Excels in a high operational tempo. Manages multiple projects by setting timelines to distribute projects appropriately. Ensures timely notification of CCEMA leadership and staff, as well as local, county and state officials.
- Support and assist multimedia outreach activities such as: social media graphics, marketing materials and (virtual or in-person) presentations. Participates in other public outreach activities in support of the emergency preparedness program.
- Maintain awareness of disaster conditions across the County and staff the County’s Emergency Operations Center when activated. This position may act in a ‘duty-officer’ capacity during scheduled weekends and evenings.
- Work cooperatively and productively with supervisors, co-workers, partner agencies, and general public.
- Develop and provide subject matter expertise in the field of disaster response to the County and with various local, regional and state groups and committees.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
